The Ghana Music Industry has seen the most diversity and surprises in 2017. This year has seen many artistes who didn’t even exist some few years back taking the industry by storm. Some of these surprise or relatively new artistes have produced some of the very best songs of the year while others just didn’t cut it.

10. WEDDING CAR BY DADIE OPANKA
Opanka released this love song entitled “Wedding Car”, which talks about proposing to a girl and showing her off to the world during the wedding and beyond, in February 2017. Its a commercial tune which is very danceable and produced by Ephraim Beats. The movie-like video which was directed by Bra Shizzle has special cameo appearances of Amanda Jissih, Ephraim, Clemento Suarez etc. Words alone can’t do justice to the story, humor, lessons etc involved in this video and how well the video complements the song.
9. SELFISH BY KING PROMISE
Legacy Life Entertainment’s artist King Promise dropped this heart-warming Ghanaian Hi-Life piece titled , “Selfish” in November, 2017. The Ghanaian singer/songwriter sings about how he can’t be away from the love of his life. The song was produced by Ghanaian ace producer Killbeatz and the beautiful video that describes the lyrical content of the song was directed by Vertex.
8. LAST SHOW BY KOFI KINAATA
High-grade Family’s Kofi Kinaata dropped this beautiful and inspirational track titled ‘Last Show’ in July 2017. This highlife piece was produced by Willis Beats and the humorous yet lesson-filled video was directed by Yaw Skyface.
7. ME NE WOA BY M.ANIFEST FT. KING PROMISE
Learned Ghanaian rapper, M.anifest, marries ideas with Legacy Life Entertainment frontline, King Promise, to produce this priceless and infectious tune titled ‘Me Ne Woa’ in November 2017. This one was produced The Gentleman.
6. BO NOO NI BY JOE METTLE FT. LUIGI MACLEAN
The hold up is at long last finished, and ‘Bo noo ni’ by Minister Joe Mettle was finally outdoored in September 2017. The tune, a combination of English and Ga was conveyed with exactness of a moving depression that will influence you to ascend to move along quickly. 4. DEM CONFUSE BY SHATTA WALE
SM4L frontliner, Shatta Wale released this one tagged Dem Confuse in March 2017. Fans have speculated that he made this song as another warning to the BHIM Nation leader, Stonebwoy, and asserts he is confused. The video that was made abroad features and was directed by Will Drey.
3. BOA ME BY FUSE ODG FT. ED SHEERAN & MUGEEZ
Fuse ODG teamed up with Ed Sheeran and Mugeez from R2bees to make his smash hit, ‘Boa Me’. This song was recorded in Ghana and Ed sings only in twi on this hi life influenced Afrobeats song. Produced by Killbeatz and video directed by Gyo Gyimah, ‘Boa me’ has made it to the number 3 spot on our best songs in Ghana 2017.
2. MY OWN BY SAMINI
There can never be a dull moment with Samini. High Grade Music leading dancehall artiste, Samini, who has been on the low came out with a hit song off the Reggae Fest Riddim tagged My Own. Tune is titled My Own and was produced by DJ Frass. The video was directed by Note work, Samini and Tendai Baba Maraire.
1. MY NAME BY STONEBWOY
Burniton Music Group frontliner, Stonebwoy, released this song in June 2017 and had many speculating that the song was throwing shade at his former beat maker and producer, Beatz da Kay. The song, however, made it so big this year and is undoubtedly the best song made this year. ‘My name’ was produced by Armz House Records, Jamaica and the beautiful video that accompanies the song was directed by Tim McCartney.
